most of can say that our stress comes from out problems. problems come in many shapes, sizes, and degrees or seriousness. but they all have one thing in common... they present us with something that we wish were different. the more we struggle with our problems and the more we want them to go away, the worse they seem and the more stress they cause.
ironically, and luckily, the opposite is also true. when we accept our problems as an inevitable part of life, when we look at them as potential teachers, it's as if the weight has been lifted off our shoulders.
think of a problem you have struggled with for quite some time. how have you dealt with this problem up until now? if you're like most, you've probably struggled with it, mentally rehearsed it, analyzed it again and again, but have come up short. where has this struggle led you? probably to even more confusion and stress.
now think of the same problem in a new way. rather than push away and resist it, embrace it. ask what this problem can teach you. could it teach you to be more careful or patient? does it have anything to do with greed, envy, carelessness, or forgiving someone?
dealing with things and seeing problems in a lighter way instead of letting it trap you can potentially lead you to live happier in a world full of problems. not every problem is heavy and shouldn't feel like an emergency, once we learn what we need to learn from every mistake and problem, they begin to go away.
hiding is not an option.
